The last post that I created was so different for me to do. I struggled to start the short story and I actually wrote the first paragraph or so on one day but then came back to it another day and finished the rest of the story. It was interesting because in the chapter that we read that talked about characterization it posed the thought of who really writes the story? Does the author dictate what the character does or does the character tell the author what they do? As I began writing the story for the last post I found myself letting the character tell me what was going on, which to me was weird. I really had it in my mind that as the author of the story we dictate everything but it was different writing the story from the characters point of view and interpreting the story through their eyes.
I really enjoyed writing the short story because it's not something that I do on a regular basis. I usually don't write short stories at all because I think I'm just a mediocre writer so I don't send a lot of time on writing. But writing this story was fun for me and I liked being creative like I was. I think my story even came out better than I intended it to be. Like I've said before, when we are growing up we don't think that much about how deep the characters make the story or how much they impact the story. And not so much just the characters in general but more so the different characters and what type of characters they are; whether that be flat, round, dynamic or such. It really puts even more depth to the story for the characters to be unique in their characteristics and adds color to the story. I think a lot of us really only read stories that have color to them and that is (the majority of the time) the main way authors try to write. And often it's the stories that we read and buy so it's beneifical that we learn to write like this in school.
